Bolotinaite is a new mineral, approved in 2021 and to date (February 2023) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, In den Dellen quarries, Mendig, Mendig, Mayen-Koblenz District, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, bolotinaite was discovered in a volcanic ejectum of trachitoid sanidine-bearing rock collected from the quarry. The associated minerals are sanidine, nepheline, annite and zircon. Bolotinaite occurs as pale yellow to pinkish coloured isolated interpenetration prismatic twins up to 1.3 mm long, complex twins, and rare non-twinned rhombic dodecahedra up to 0.2 mm across (MM 86.920-928).
