At the type locality, the Crestùn asbestos mine, Ciappanico, Torre di Santa Maria, Sondrio Province, Lombardy, Italy,
brugnatellite occurs as crusts and coatings along cracks in
serpentinite associated with
artinite, hydromagnesite,
pyroaurite, magnesite,
chrysotile, aragonite and
brucite
(Dana).
At Monte Ramazzo, Liguria, brugnatellite occurs as an alteration product of
brucite
(Dana).
