Localities

At the type locality, the Kovdor Zheleznyi mine, Kovdor Massif, Murmansk Oblast, Russia, cattiite occurs as small massive aggregates and very small crystals in cavities in a dolomite carbonatite. Associated minerals include dolomite, bakhchisaraitsevite, nastrophite, magnetite, pyroaurite and carbonate-rich fluorapatite (Minrec 35.4.346).
