Dixenite occurs in a metamorphosed iron-manganese orebody in serpentine at the type locality, Långban, Filipstad, Värmland, Sweden, which is the only known locality (Mindat). It is associated with hematite, adelite, native lead, domeykite and magnussonite (HOM).
