Dmisokolovite is a relatively new mineral, approved in 2013 and to date (March 2024) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Arsenatnaya fumarole, Second scoria cone, Northern Breakthrough, Great Fissure eruption, Tolbachik Volcanic field, Milkovsky District, Kamchatka Krai, Russia, two new (in 2013) minerals, shchurovskyite and dmisokolovite, were found in sublimate, associated with one another and with johillerite, bradaczekite, tilasite, melanarsite, tenorite, hematite, aphthitalite, langbeinite and orthoclase. They may occur as sublimate incrustations and/or the product of reaction between rock and volcanic gas on the surface of basalt scoria in the active fumarole.
Dmisokolovite forms tabular, prismatic or dipyramidal crystals up to 0.2 mm in size, commonly combined in clusters or crusts up to 0.7 cm × 1.5 cm across. It is transparent with a vitreous lustre (MM 79.7.1737-1753, HOM).
