Approved as a new mineral species in 1997 by a special procedure of the IMA. To date (June 2026) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

The type locality is the Limberg Quarries, Sasbach am Kaiserstuhl, Emmendingen, Freiburg Region, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. For this species Mg is the most abundant extra-framework cation. The proposed type (and only) example is an old museum sample from the Genth Collection at Pennsylvania State University, that originated at Sasbach am Kaiserstuhl (CM 35.6.1582).
