Localities
There are two co-type localities, the Nisi mine, Orchomenus, Boeotia, Central Greece, Greece and Zagrad, Nikšic
Municipality, Montenegro.
In the Nikšic Municipality, Montenegro, both hydroxylbastnäsite-(Nd) and
hydroxylbastnäsite-(La) have been found
(JWW pps 268-270)
The hydroxylbastnäsite-(Nd) has been found in very small quantities as a rare authigenic mineral in the red
bauxites near the contact with the footwall
limestone. The mineral was concentrated in whitish, irregular
aggregates of crystals, usually 100 to 200 microns across, but a few occur as clusters 1 to 5 mm across in which the
bastnasite is intergrown with bauxite
(MM 49.717-20).
