Joliotite occurs as crusts on limonite and baryte at uranium deposits (Webmin).

Localities

At the type locality, Krunkelbach Valley Uranium deposit, Menzenschwand, St Blasien, Waldshut, Freiburg Region, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, joliotite is a rare secondary mineral in the oxidised portions of the deposit. Associated minerals include billietite, rutherfordine, studtite, baryte and limonite (HOM, Mindat).
