Localities

At the type locality, the Kovdor Zheleznyi mine, Kovdor Massif, Murmansk Oblast, Russia, kovdorskite is a very rare mineral occurring in magnetite-forsterite rocks in nests of dolomite. Associated minerals include collinsite, magnesite, hydrotalcite and apatite, as well as magnetite, forsterite and dolomite (AM 66.437, HOM).
