Metaschoepite occurs as an irreversible alteration product of schoepite from the oxidised zone of uranium-bearing mineral deposits. Associated minerals are schoepite and paraschoepite (HOM).

Localities

The type locality is the Shinkolobwe mine, Shinkolobwe, Kambove District, Haut-Katanga, DR Congo.

Alteration

Metaschoepite may occur as a dehydration product of schoepite, and may itself dehydrate to paulscherrerite (Mindat).
