Localities

At the type locality, Nickenichite-bearing fumarole, Nickenicher Sattel, Nickenich, Pellenz, Mayen-Koblenz District, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, nickenichite occurs as bright blue fibrous to long prismatic monoclinic grains up to 0.20 mm long and 0.03 mm in diameter, in a cavity in volcanic scoria. Associated minerals include vanadinite and duhamelite (AM 79.571).
