Localities

The type locality, the Poudrette quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire, La Vallée-du-Richelieu RCM, Montérégie, Quebec, Canada, is an alkali gabbro-syenite complex. Poudretteite occurs in marble xenoliths within the nepheline syenite breccia, associated with pectolite and apophyllite, and with minor aegirine. Milarite was found in this assemblage as well, but not as a direct associate of poudretteite (CM 25.763-766).

At Mogok Township, Pyin-Oo-Lwin District, Mandalay Region, Myanmar, fine gem-quality crystals of poudretteite have been found (R&M 94.4.376-378).
