Localities

At the type locality, Ottaviano, Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania, Italy, quadridavyne occurs as transparent, colourless, prismatic crystals, with a hexagonal outline, up to 2 mm in length and 0.5 mm across. It occurs in volcanic ash samples that also contain lithic fragments composed of metasomatised and hydrothermally altered lavas and scoriae, from the 1906 eruption of Vesuvius (Mindat, HOM). It has been found associated with olivine, leucite and black amphibole (Mindat photo).
