Hydrothermal environments

Although schaurteite was known as early as 1967, to date (September 2025) it has been reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Oshikoto Region, Namibia, schaurteite occurs as needlelike crystals; it is a secondary mineral formed in the oxidised zone of a dolostone-hosted hydrothermal polymetallic ore deposit. Germanite is an associated mineral (Mindat).
