Localities

At the type locality, the Novyi andesite dome, Bezymyannyi Volcano, Kamchatka Krai, Russia, shcherbinaite occurs on the walls of fissures where fumarolic gases rich in HCl and HF are escaping. It consists of finely fibrous aggregates of acicular yellow-green crystals less than 1.5 mm long and less than 0.1 mm thick (AM 58.560-562).

At the the Tolbachik Volcanic field, Milkovsky District, Kamchatka Krai, Russia, shcherbinaite is associated with pauflerite (CM 45.4.921-927).
