Localities

There are two co-type localities, the Stillwater Complex, Montana, USA and the Stillwater Mine, Stillwater County, Montana, USA. The upper zones consist of norite, gabbro and anorthosite.
Thirteen small anhedral grains of stillwaterite were studied, 40 x 75 to 120 x 265 microns in size. Closely associated minerals are gold, other palladium arsenides and silicates (CM 13.321-335).
