Environments
Thermonatrite is a water-soluble mineral found primarily in evaporite deposits usually associated with
trona and natron, or as a
surface deposit in arid regions. It also forms in volcanic fumaroles. At Borax Lake, California, USA,
thermonatrite is associated with halite
(Dana).
Alteration
Thermonatrite may originate as an alteration product of
natrite.
