Sedimentary environments

Thermonatrite is a water-soluble mineral found primarily in evaporite deposits usually associated with trona and natron, or as a surface deposit in arid regions. It also forms in volcanic fumaroles. At Borax Lake, California, USA, thermonatrite is associated with halite.

Alteration

Thermonatrite may originate as an alteration product of natrite.
