Hydrothermal environments

Although wilhelmkleinite was approved in 1997, to date (September 2025) it has been reported only from the type locality; it is a very rare mineral.

Localities

At the type locality, the Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Oshikoto Region, Namibia, wilhelmkleinite occurs as blackish green, spearhead-shaped crystals up to 5 mm long, in a deep oxidation zone in the dolostone-hosted hydrothermal polymetallic ore deposit. Associated minerals include scorodite, gerdtremmelite and adamite (HOM, Mindat).
