Hydrothermal environments

Amarillite forms in the oxidation zones of sulphide deposits, commonly associated with coquimbite (Mindat).

Localities

At the type locality, Tierra Amarilla, Copiapó Province, Atacama, Chile, amarillite occurs in veinlets in massive coquimbite (Dana).
