Ammoniomathesiusite is a relatively new mineral, approved in 2017.

Localities

At the type locality, the Burro Mine, Slick Rock Mining District, San Miguel County, Colorado, USA, ammoniomathesiusite occurs as a secondary phase on asphaltum (bitumen)/quartz matrix in association with ammoniozippeite, gypsum, jarosite and natrozippeite. The mineral forms pale yellow to greenish-yellow transparent prisms with a vitreous lustre, up to ~0.3 mm long (MM 83.1.115-121).
