Although ankinovichite was approved in 2002, to date (May 2025) it has been reported only from the type localities.

Localities

There are two co-type localities, Kurumsak V Deposit, Aksumbe, Sozak District, Turkistan Region, Kazakhstan and Kara-Chagyr Mountain, Kadamjay District, Batken Region, Kyrgyzstan.

At Kara-Chagyr Mountain, Kadamjay District, Batken Region, Kyrgyzstan, ankinovichite occurs in fractures and as cement in schist fragments within a serpentinite matrix. Associated minerals include allophane, kolovratite, volborthite, nickelalumite, metatyuyamunite, roscoelite, tangeite and gypsum (HOM).

At the Kurumsak V Deposit, Aksumbe, Sozak District, Turkistan Region, Kazakhstan, ankinovichite is a low-temperature hydrothermal or weathering-derived mineral that occurs as overgrowths оп alvanite in vanadium-bearing schists. Associated minerals include alvanite, volborthite, carnotite and goethite (HOM).
