Boojumite is a new mineral, approved in 2022 and to date (May 2024) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Redmond Mine, Waterville Lake, Haywood County, North Carolina, USA, boojumite and kennygayite occur in a highly unusual secondary assemblage that comprises a variety of rare lead - zinc - copper sulphates, thiosulphates and carbonates.
Boojumite was found in close association with bechererite, caledonite, cubothioplumbite, hexathioplumbite, hydroredmondite, redmondite, steverustite and sulfatoredmondite.
Boojumite occurs as yellow prisms or blades to about 0.3 mm long (CJMP 62.2.391-403)
