Bounahasite is a new mineral, approved in 2021 and to date (November 2024) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Bou Nahas mine, Oumjrane mining area, Alnif Cercle, Tinghir Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco, bounahasite was found in the oxidation zone, as pseudo-hexagonal plates up to 3 × 30 × 40 μm3 in size combined in loose clusters with native copper and paratacamite. The bounahasite is green with vitreous lustre (MM 87.2.218-224).
