Localities

At the type locality, the Porphyry quarry, Kropbach, Staufen im Breisgau, Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, Freiburg Region, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, boyleite occurs as a rare alteration product of sphalerite in a hydrothermal lead-zinc vein. Associated minerals include gypsum, gunningite and sphalerite (HOM).

At Les Valettes, Mont Chemin mining district, Martigny, Valais, Switzerland, boyleite is associated with gunningite, coquimbite, zincocopiapite, jarosite, melanterite, römerite, siderotil, voltaite, chalcanthite, hexahydrite and gypsum (HOM).
