At the type locality, the Porphyry quarry, Kropbach, Staufen im Breisgau, Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, Freiburg Region,
Baden-Württemberg, Germany, boyleite occurs as a rare alteration product of
sphalerite in a hydrothermal
lead-zinc vein. Associated minerals
include gypsum, gunningite and
sphalerite
(HOM).

gunningite, coquimbite,
zincocopiapite, jarosite,
melanterite, römerite,
