At the type locality, Cerro de Cacheuta, Sierra de Cacheuta, Cacheuta District, Luján de Cuyo department, Mendoza Province, Argentina, cobaltomenite is associated with chalcomenite and molybdomenite (HOM).

At El Dragón mine, Porco Municipality, Antonio Quijarro Province, Potosí, Bolivia, cobaltomenite is associated with chalcomenite, clinochalcomenite, lepidocrocite and gypsum (HOM).
