Cohenite occurs in iron meteorites, also in terrestrial iron, in mafic volcanic rocks chemically reduced
from the assimilation of graphite (Webmin). Associated minerals include
iron, schreibersite,
troilite and wüstite
(HOM). Cohenite has been recorded in metallic particles in lunar rocks, probably of meteoric origin
(Dana).
