Désorite is a new mineral, approved in 2023 and to date (September 2024) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Schöne Aussicht Mine, Dernbach, Wirges, Westerwaldkreis, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, désorite occurs as irregular blades up to about 0.25 mm long, occurring in subparallel and radial aggregates in a secondary, oxidation-zone mineral assemblage in vugs in a goethite-quartz gossan. Associated minerals include quartz, plumbogummite, goethite, coronadite and carminite (Mindat).
