Placer deposits

Erlichmanite occurs typically in platinum group mineral placers, likely derived from chromitites associated with ophiolites and other ultramafic complexes. Associated minerals include a platinum-iron alloy, platinum, osmium, laurite, hollingworthite, irarsite and many other platinum group mineral alloys and sulphides (HOM).

Localities

The type locality is the MacIntosh mine, Willow Creek, Willow Creek Mining District, Klamath Mountains, Humboldt county, California, USA.
