Ferrinatrite occurs as an oxidation product of iron sulphides, typically in arid regions; it occurs rarely in fumaroles (HOM).

Localities

At the type locality, La Compañia Mine, Sierra Gorda, Antofagasta Province, Antofagasta, Chile, ferrinatrite is associated with metavoltine, copiapite, coquimbite, sideronatrite, tamarugite, quenstedtite and römerite (HOM).
The ferrinatrite occurs as stellate groups of crystals forming nearly spherical nodules (Mindat).
