Hatertite is a relatively new mineral, approved in 2012 and to date (July 2024) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Northern Breakthrough, Great Fissure eruption, Tolbachik Volcanic field, Milkovsky District, Kamchatka Krai, Russia, hatertite was found in a fumarole as individual, prismatic and tabular, honey-yellow crystals up to 0.3 mm across (EJM 25.4.683-691).
Associated minerals include ponomarevite, piypite, dolerophanite, euchlorine, sylvite, lammerite, johillerite, urusovite, bradaczekite, filatovite, hematite and tenorite (HOM).
The gas temperature in the fumarole where the hatertite was found was 410 to 420oC (Mindat).
