Localities

At the type locality, the Wessels mine, Hotazel, Kalahari manganese field, Northern Cape, South Africa, hennomartinite formed as a hydrothermal reaction product of primary manganese ore, where it occurs as yellow-brown poikiloblasts (a metamorphic texture in which small grains of one constituent lie within larger grains) up to 1 mm in diameter (AM 79.763-767).
It was found in a hand specimen, in veinlets of serandite-pectolite cutting sugilite, associated with serandite-pectolite, sugilite, braunite, taikanite and potassic-mangani-leakeite (HOM).
