Huizingite-(Al) is a relatively new mineral, approved in 2015.

Localities

At the type locality, the Huron Shale burn site, Huron River, Huron County, Ohio, USA, the new minerals carlsonite and huizingite-(Al) formed from a natural fire in the oil-bearing shale. Huizingite-(Al) crystals, typically intergrown in light greenish yellow drusy aggregates, are tabular to bladed, with a white streak and vitreous lustre (AM 101.2095-2107).
Associated minerals include adranosite, anhydrite, boussingaultite, mascagnite and salammoniac (HOM).
