Salammoniac is a sublimation product around volcanic fumaroles; in burning coal seams and waste piles; in guano deposits. The ammonia usually is derived from organic matter. Associated minerals include sulphur in fumaroles, and realgar, orpiment, sulphur, mascagnite and tschermigite in burning coal seams (HOM).

Localities

At Pabellón de Pica, Chanabaya, Iquique Province, Tarapacá, Chile, ammineite occurs as mm-sized blue crystals and also as powdery masses, associated with halite, atacamite, salammoniac and darapskite (CM 48.1359-1371).
