Localities

At the type locality, Kemmlitz, Mügeln, Nordsachsen, Saxony, Germany, kemmlitzite occurs in pseudo-cubic rhombohedral crystals with average rhombohedron edge 0.1 to 0.15 mm. The basal pinacoid is rarely present. Colour light greyish brown, partly colourless, and partly cloudy brownish with zonal structure. The mineral was found in the heavy fraction separated from kaolinised quartz porphyry. Amongst the associated heavy minerals, zircon, anatase and apatite are most abundant (AM 55.317-323).
