At the type locality, the Svornost Mine, Jáchymov, Karlovy Vary District, Karlovy Vary Region, Czech Republic, kroupaite is of supergene origin formed by oxidation-hydration alteration of uraninite. Associated minerals include fourmarierite, sodium-rich metaschoepite, uranopilite, liebigite, ewingite and gypsum (HOM)
