Kufahrite is a new mineral, approved in 2020 and to date (May 2023) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Ledyanoy Creek placer, Gal'moenan ultrabasic massif, Korf, Kamchatka Krai, Russia, kufahrite was found in isoferroplatinum grains extracted from a heavy-mineral concentrate, together with tetraferroplatinum, tulameenite, native iridium, hollingworthite and chromium-rich spinel. Kufahrite occurs as part of alteration rims which are formed together with tetraferroplatinum after isoferroplatinum, or as grains up to 150 μm in size (MM 85.2.254-261).
