Louisfuchsite is a new mineral, approved in 2022 and to date (November 2024) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Northwest Africa 4964 meteorite (NWA 4964), Northwest Africa Meteorites, louisfuchsite is a new refractory mineral identified in a calcium - aluminium - rich inclusion (CAI) from the carbonaceous chondrite. It occurs with spinel, perovskite, grossmanite, plus secondary rutile, titanite and ilmenite in three regions in the inclusion.
Louisfuchsite is a new refractory phase from the solar nebula, crystallised from a refractory melt under reduced conditions (AM 109.11.2006-2012).
