At the type locality, the Sophia Mine, Böckelsbach valley, Wittichen, Schenkenzell, Rottweil, Freiburg Region,
Baden-Württemberg, Germany, metakitchheimerite was found at the mine dump as a very rare
secondary mineral formed in the oxidised zone of the U–As deposit.
Associated minerals include metakahlerite,
nováčekite, metaheinrichite,
erythrite and uraninite
(HOM).
