Environments
Metakahlerite occurs as a secondary mineral in the
oxidised zone of uranium-arsenic
bearing deposits
(HOM).
Localities
At the Knichte section, Lölling mining district, Hüttenberger Erzberg, Hüttenberg, Sankt Veit an der Glan District,
Carinthia, Austria, metakahlerite is associated with
arseniosiderite, scorodite,
löllingite, uraninite and
siderite
(HOM).
At the type locality, Sophia Mine, Böckelsbach valley, Wittichen, Schenkenzell, Rottweil, Freiburg Region,
Baden-Württemberg, Germany, metakahlerite was found as rare, sulphur-yellow scaly aggregates in the Sophia
Shaft
(AM 45.254).

At the Monte Cervandone area, Devero Alp, Baceno, Verbano-Cusio-Ossola Province, Piedmont, Italy, tiny olive-green
crystals and encrustations of metakahlerite have been found in Mättital, resting directly on weathered
cafarsite. Other closely related
uranium species such as
meta-autunite,
metatorbernite and
metazeunerite are also known from the region
MinRec 56.3.318).
At the Southwick Cliffs, near Dalbeattie, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, UK, metakahlerite is associated
with kahlerite
(HOM).
