Localities

At the type locality, Knichte section, Lölling mining district, Hüttenberger Erzberg, Hüttenberg, Sankt Veit an der Glan District, Carinthia, Austria, kahlerite occurs as a secondary mineral in the oxidised zone of the uraninite-bearing iron deposit, forming tabular lemon-yellow crystals to 2 mm in size. Associated minerals include scorodite, symplesite, pitticite and löllingite (Mindat).

At Southwick Cliffs, near Dalbeattie, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, UK, kahlerite is associated with lavendulan, zeunerite, metazeunerite, malachite, cornubite, mixite, tyrolite, wulfenite and metakahlerite (HOM).
