At the type locality, the Kobokobo pegmatite, Mwenga Territory, South Kivu, DR Congo, mundite is a rare mineral in the oxidised uraniferous zone of the complex granite pegmatite. Associated minerals include phuralumite, upalite, ranunculite, threadgoldite and eylettersite (HOM).
