Environments

Hydrothermal environments

Raguinite is a dithioferrate mineral: a sulfosalt that contains the [FeS2] anion with iron in the Fe3+ state. Other known natural dithioferrates are erdite and hanswilkeite (AM 110.6.956–965).

Localities

At the type Locality, Allchar, Ržanovo, Kavadarci Municipality, North Macedonia, raguinite occurs in pseudohexagonal plates, pseudomorphs after an unknown mineral; these consist of bundles of bronze-coloured fibres intimately mixed with pyrite. As well as pyrite, other associated minerals include lorandite, orpiment, realgar and vrbaite (AM 54.1495-1499).
