Environments
Although smrkovecite was approved in 1993, to date (May 2026) it has been confirmed only from the type locality.
Localities
At the type locality, Smrkovec, Březová, Sokolov District, Karlovy Vary Region, Czech Republic, smrkovecite occurs as
crusts and mamillary to spherical aggregates to 0.2 mm, and as intergrown crystals to 0.1 mm in cavities in
quartz. It is a rare secondary
mineral formed by weathering, found in old mine dumps at the Ag–Bi–As–U deposit. Associated minerals include
quartz, atelestite,
bismutite, bismutoferrite,
eulytine, metatorbernite,
petitjeanite, preisingerite,
pucherite, retgersite and
sillénite
(HOM, Mindat).
