Environments
Stannopalladinite was originally described from a locality thought to be in the Noril'sk region, and since
described from the Taimyr mine, Talnakh area, of that region in western Siberia; the species was later redefined
from Monchegorsk, Kola Peninsula; also at the Ugol'nri Ruch' placer, all in the USSR
(HOM).
Localities
At the type locality, Ugol'nyi Ruchei Mine, Noril'sk Cu-Ni deposit, Norilsk-Talnakh Mining Region, Taimyr Peninsula,
Taymyrskiy Autonomous Okrug, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, stannopalladinite occurs as spherical and ovoid-shaped
grains up to 0.08 mm in size, closely intergrown with
tetraferroplatinum as part of flattened, prismatic crystals up
to 6 mm long. Associated minerals include tetraferroplatinum and
zvyagintsevite
(Mindat).

At Monchegorsk, Murmansk Oblast, Russia, stannopalladinite is associated with
niggliite, hessite and
tellurides of platinum and
palladium
(HOM).
