Hydrothermal environments

Terrywallaceite is a relatively new mineral, approved in 2011.

Localities

At the type locality, Level 390, Vein 14, Herminia Mine, Julcani District, Angaraes Province, Huancavelica, Peru, terrywallaceite was found on a rock sample associated with tetrahedrite, gustavite, baryte and pyrite. Hydrothermal alteration and mineralisation are believed to have taken place concurrently with the intrusion of late-stage volcanic domes and dikes.
Terrywallaceite crystals are lath-shaped, opaque, black, with a metallic lustre and with striations parallel to the elongated direction; they are up to 0.5 mm long (AM 98.7.1310-1314).
