Hydrothermal environments

Thometzekite is a very rare secondary mineral.

Localities

At the type locality, the Tsumeb mine, Tsumeb, Oshikoto Region, Namibia, thometzekite was found in an oxidised zone in a dolostone-hosted hydrothermal polymetallic ore deposit on a specimen of massive gypsum. Associated minerals include anglesite and mimetite, as well as gypsum (HOM, AM 73.931).
