Varulite occurs in complex granite pegmatites, either as a primary mineral or as an alteration product of triphylitelithiophilite; it also occurs as nodules in shale. Alluaudite is an associated mineral (HOM).

Localities

At the type locality, Varuträsk, Skellefte mining district, Västerbotten, Sweden, varulite occurs in a granite pegmatite (Mindat).
