Localities

At the type locality, the Glücksstern Mine, Gottlob Hill, Friedrichroda, Gotha District, Thuringia, Germany, wakefieldite-(La) from the long-abandoned mine occurs as light pinkish to brown prismatic crystals up to 0.5 mm in length. It is associated with hausmannite, baryte and gottlobite. The streak is white and the lustre adamantine. The crystals are transparent to translucent. (EJM 20.6.1135-1139).
Wakefieldite-(La) is a low-temperature mineral in a hydrothermal baryte vein (HOM).
