Zolotarevite is a new mineral, approved in 2020 and to date (May 2023) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, Alluaiv Mountain, Lovozersky District, Murmansk Oblast, Russia, zolotarevite was found in a light-coloured nepheline syenite as anhedral grains up to 1 mm across. Associated minerals include microclineperthite, nepheline, sodalite, aegirine, lamprophyllite, lueshite, umbozerite, lomonosovite, nastrophite, a mineral of the kazakovitetisinalite series, sphalerite and löllingite.
Zolotarevite is unique in that it is a highly hydrated lovozerite-group mineral with the B site occupied by variable amounts of H2O (MM86.2.263-271).
