At the type locality, the East Mine, Bayan Obo deposit, Baotou League, Inner Mongolia, China, aeschynite-(Nd) occurs in veins in slate and metamorphosed dolostone associated with aegirine, riebeckite, baryte, fluorite, albite, phlogopite and magnetite (HOM, Mindat, AM 69.565).
